Network cabling Installation
Alarmto installs network cable in homes across Toronto and the GTA. We run Ethernet from your network equipment to each spot that needs a wired connection, then terminate and test every run.
Typical connections include Wi-Fi access points, security cameras, TVs, and home-office computers. How many runs you need, and where they go, depends on the layout of the house and where the equipment will sit.
Ethernet Cable
Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a are the Ethernet cable categories commonly used in residential network installations.
Cat5e supports Gigabit Ethernet and can be a practical choice for standard network connections and extending an existing network.
Cat6 supports Gigabit Ethernet and can support 10 Gbps over shorter runs, depending on the equipment and installation conditions.
Cat6a supports 10 Gbps over runs up to 100 metres. It is a good option when higher bandwidth is needed over longer runs or when additional capacity is planned for future equipment. Cat6a is also thicker and more difficult to route.
We select the cable based on the equipment, run length, network hardware, and installation conditions rather than using the same cable for every job.
PoE Cabling
Power over Ethernet (PoE) sends power and data to a device over a single Ethernet cable. It's most often used for IP security cameras and Wi-Fi access points, so neither needs an outlet nearby.
The power comes from a PoE switch, a PoE-enabled NVR, or a PoE injector. Before we run any cable, we check the devices and their power requirements to confirm the setup is compatible. If you're adding cameras, see our security camera installation service.
Network Racks & Cabinets
A home network rack or cabinet keeps network equipment and cable connections organized in one location. Depending on the setup, it can house a router, network switch, patch panel, and connections for Ethernet outlets, Wi-Fi access points, and other wired devices.
Alarmto installs and organizes residential network cabinets based on the available space, number of connections, equipment, and plans for future expansion. We also organize and label cable connections to make the home network easier to maintain.

Our process
We handle the process from cable routing and connection planning through installation, termination, and testing.
We review where you need connections and which cable routes are available.
We run the Ethernet cable and terminate each connection point.
We test every run to confirm it works and is ready for the equipment.
Tell us about your property and what you want to protect. We’ll discuss suitable equipment, installation options, and the next steps for your home.
Across Toronto and GTA
